Hours of Operation

Hours of operation are the same as STARS fixed route service:

  • Monday-Friday: 5:00 am – 9:00 pm
  • Saturday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
Method/Rules for Scheduling a Ride

Call 989-753-9526 Monday through Friday between 9AM and 3PM to schedule STARS Lift paratransit rides.

  • Call at least the day before your trip to schedule
  • The STARS Gold card allows people with disabilities to schedule their paratransit rides up to 2 weeks in advance.
  • Silver Card holders can schedule two days in advance of their trip
  • Subscription service is available for passengers who make the same trip on a regular basis (same days/times each week).

Paratransit/Reduced Fare Eligibility

STARS Lift service is the curb-to-curb complementary paratransit service for individuals who are not able to use the STARS fixed route service due to a disability. Paratransit service is curb-to-curb, origin to destination service and STARS Lift vehicles are lift (or ramp) equipped for wheelchair or other mobility device users.

To qualify to use the STARS Lift paratransit service, individuals must possess a STARS Gold or Silver Card.

  • Gold Card status allows individuals to use STARS Lift (paratransit) service. The STARS Gold Card Application requires a licensed healthcare professional’s certification of the person’s disability/inability to use fixed route. Gold Card Holders also qualify to receive half fare for Lift/paratransit rides during the that fixed route buses are in service.   • The STARS Silver card is a program to assist people with disabilities who can use the fixed-route bus service, at least some of the time. The STARS silver card allows seniors over 60 and people with disabilities half fare on fixed route bus service. The STARS Silver Card Application requires the applicant to sign a medical release.   • Both Gold and Silver Card holders may receive half fare for fixed route service if they use fixed route service at least some of the time. Both Gold and Silver Card holders also qualify to use STARS Lift paratransit service.
