Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, MAX is opperating under the following hours & regulations:

  • Monday – Friday 6am – 7pm
  • Saturday 10am – 7pm
  • Limited scheduling allowing grocery, Medical & employment trips Mon – Fri
  • Saturday limited scheduling allowing dialysis & employment trips
Method/Rules for Scheduling a Ride

To reserve a ride, call MAX Customer Service at (616) 355-1010 before 4 p.m. the day before travel, and give the reservationist the following information:

  1.  Last and first name of passenger
  2. Full street address of your destination
  3. Date and time of your requested pickup time
  4. Time of your return ride, if needed
  5. Indicate whether you need door-to-door assistance and need a wheelchair lift

Reserve-A-MAX service is in high demand during the peak hours of 6-8:30 a.m. and 2-4:30 p.m. If possible, try to schedule your trips during off-peak times.

Operating Area

Paratransit and general curb-to-curb transportation* in the greater Holland/Zeeland area.

*Only ADA cardholders, people 70 years or older, and those whose origins and/or destinations that are farther than ½ mile from a bus stop are eligible to reserve rides. Individuals with disabilities receive first priority.

Standard Fare

Adults (18-59): $5.50

(Individuals with disabilities get priority for Reserve-A-MAX rides)


Reduced Fare

Reduced Fare: $2.30

Available for:

  • Seniors (60+)
  • Persons with Disabilities/ADA Cardholders
  • Children (under 18)

Accessibility & Eligibility

Paratransit/Reduced Fare Eligibility

This service is curb-to-curb complementary paratransit as well as general curb-to-curb demand response transportation for use by the general public when their origin or destination addresses are more than 1/2 of a mile from a fixed route bus stop. Reserve-A-MAX lift equipped vehicles are available for wheelchair or other mobility device users. Let dispatch know if you need door-to-door service/a wheelchair lift when scheduling.

To qualify for ADA priority service and reduced fares, passengers must undergo a free application process provided by MAX to determine eligibility. To request an application, contact MAX Customer Service at (616)355-1010. The application is not available for download online.


Transit Service Accessibility

This is curb-to-curb service and lift equipped vehicles are available for wheelchair or other mobility device users. This service is accessible for individuals with disabilities as well as open to the general public when their origin or destinations are more than 1/2 a mile from a MAX fixed route bus stop.


Additional Notes

According to the MAX website:

Reserve-A-MAX (DR) and Fixed Route service is currently servicing limited trips (medical, employment, grocery/supplies). MAX’s service hours are adjusted to Monday-Friday, 6:00am-7:00pm with advanced requested evening service only, and Reserve-A-MAX service only on Saturday from  10:00am-7:00pm (dialysis trips and employment trips only).

Passengers going to the grocery store for essential shopping purposes will be limited to two (2) trips per week to allow all passengers the opportunity to use the services. MAX is also temporarily allowing passengers four (4) bags for grocery trips instead of the usual two (2) allotted bags.
