Joint Statement from Disability Organizations in Support of the Michigan Secretary of State’s Response Efforts
An 8-year-old boy was being restrained and lacked a behavior support plan in a charter school in southeast Michigan. A DRM attorney intervened and advocated for a complete functional assessment of behavior. The attorney filed an administrative complaint which was substantiated by the state, and the boy received behavior supports and 120 hours of compensatory education.
