CATA East Side Routes

Hours of Operation

Days of operation and service hours vary by route. All fixed route schedules can be viewed or printed by visiting Routes & Schedules > Find Bus By Schedule, choosing your route from the drop down menu, and scrolling to the bottom of the page. If you are unsure which route you need, you can visit Trip Planner that will show you the best route or routes based on your origin and destination addresses.

CATA does not operate on New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day.

Method/Rules for Scheduling a Ride

CATA East Side Routes are fixed routes and do not need to be scheduled. If using CATA’s complementary paratransit, CATA Spec-Tran, these rides do require advanced reservation scheduling. See CATA Spec-Tran for more information.

Operating Area

Six routes (Routes 20-26) serving East Lansing, Okemos, Haslett and southeast Lansing. All East Side routes serve the MSU campus.

Fares

Standard Fare

Regular one-way fare: $1.25

Multiple and Unlimited Ride Passes also available. Click here for more information.


Reduced Fare

Discounted/reduced one-way fare: 60¢

Available for:

  • Medicare cardholders
  • Seniors age 62 and older with valid CATAClub card
  • Persons with disabilities with valid CATAClub or ADA card
  • Students with valid college or CATA Student ID.

Veterans from all U.S. Armed Forces and Reserves ride FREE every day on all CATA services when a valid U.S. Dept. of Defense ID, U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs ID, DD 214 form, driver’s license or state ID with Veteran designation, or Veteran bus pass (available upon request at the CATA Transportation Center in downtown Lansing, the Multimodal Gateway in East Lansing and CATA’s Administrative Offices in South Lansing) is presented.

Accessibility & Eligibility

Paratransit/Reduced Fare Eligibility

Spec-Tran is CATA’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) complementary paratransit service for people unable to use CATA’s fixed-route system. This is an advance reservation, curb-to-curb service that uses small low-floor vans and lift-equipped buses to transport customers. See CATA Spec-Tran for more information. For those able to get to a fixed route stop, all CATA fixed route buses are lift/ramp equipped and accessible for wheelchair users and other mobility equipment users. To qualify for reduced fare eligibility, you must have a Medicare Card, a CATA Student ID available through local middle and high schools, or apply for one of the following

CATAClub Annual Card –  issued to persons with a temporary disability. They are valid for a calendar year. Click here for the application.

CATAClub Lifetime Card – issued to persons with a permanent disability or persons 62+ years. They are valid for up to ten years depending on when you apply.
