Hours of Operation

Service is provided:

  • Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 12:15 a.m.
  • Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:15 p.m.
  • Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

No service is provided on:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
Method/Rules for Scheduling a Ride

Call (269) 350-2970 to make your trip reservation. Reservations for service can be made daily between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Reservations can be made up to seven days in advance and no later than 5:00 p.m. the day before the ride. You may make reservations for same-day service if vehicle space is available.

Please have the following information available when you call:

  • Your name and birth date
  • The day and date of your trip
  • The exact address for both your pick-up and drop-off (schedulers do not look up addresses)
  • The specific place or area where you want to be picked up
  • The time you would like to be picked up OR your appointment time
  • What type of mobility aid(s) you will be using
  • If you are traveling with a Personal Care Attendant
  • The number of people traveling with you

Operating Area

Metro Connect General Service (non-paratransit/general public)

Provides service throughout Kalamazoo County and to the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Calhoun County.  Connections are available to:

Coordination with these systems is the responsibility of the rider.

Metro Connect Access Service (ADA paratransit)

Service area extends 3/4 of a mile beyond any of the fixed-route bus lines.

(Metro Connect Access riders may also travel to other areas of the county under Metro Connect general service at applicable fare rates)

Fares

Standard Fare

Regular Cash Fare (Individual who is not registered as a senior or a passenger with a disability): $12.00

Regular Cash Subscription Fare (Individual who is not registered as a senior or a passenger with a disability for a Subscription trip): $14.00

Subscription fares must be pre-paid and are non-refundable. See more about subscription trips in the Paratransit/Reduced Fare Eligibility section below.

 


Reduced Fare

Reduced Fare (Certified senior or individual with a disability demand response trip): $4.00

Reduced Subscription Fare (Certified senior or individual with a disability for a routine ride for a medical, employment or education trip.): $6.00

Metro Connect Access Fare and Access Subscription Fare Individual certified as ADA/paratransit eligible within the Metro Connect Access service area: $3.00

Child Fares: (Child over 48 inches tall not certified with a disability: $10.00

Child subscription trips are $12.00. Children under 48 inches tall ride for free when accompanied by an adult.


Accessibility & Eligibility

Paratransit/Reduced Fare Eligibility

Metro Connect general service (non ADA/paratransit) is open to anyone in Jackson and does not require certification.

Paratransit Eligibility

Individuals with a disability that prevents them from riding on Metro’s fixed-route bus service some or all of the time can apply for Metro Connect Access (ADA paratransit) service.  See the ADA application and Professional Verification form for more information.

Reduced Fare Eligibility

Reduced fares are available to individuals with a disability and seniors 62 years or older who are certified. People with a disability must have a physician or caseworker complete the Certification for Reduced Fare form and senior citizens can provide a copy of their driver’s license, birth certificate or other picture ID to verify their age for certification. Individuals with disabilities who; are ADA/paratransit eligible also qualify for reduced fare, however, an individual with a disability does not have to use paratransit to be reduced fare eligible.

Subscription (recurring) Service

Subscription Service is available for Metro County Connect passengers on the basis of availability for regularly occurring trips. Trips must occur at least two times per week to/from the same locations and at the same times to be considered for Subscription Service. Subscription Service must be used for a minimum period of three months.  Passengers may schedule up to four Subscription trips as long as the times, locations and days are consistent.  Subscription Service is limited to trips to work, work training, volunteer work, education, and specialized medical care. To be eligible for Subscription Service, you must submit a Subscription Service Application


Transit Service Accessibility

All Metro Connect vehicles are lift equipped and accessible to wheelchair users and others with disabilities. This service may also be used by the general public.
