MAX Fixed Route Service

Macatawa Area Express (MAX)
Hours of Operation

Regular Fixed Routes

  • Monday – Friday: 6am – 7pm (last bus to depart at 6pm to complete the run at 7pm)
  • Saturday: 8am – 7pm (last bus to depart at 6pm to complete the run at 7pm)

Twilight Route

Monday – Saturday: 7pm – 10pm (last bus to depart the depot at 9pm to complete the run at 10pm-check the Master Bus Schedule for route specifics)

Method/Rules for Scheduling a Ride

This is a fixed route service. Stop locations and schedules are posted. You do not need to schedule fixed route rides.

Eleven fixed routes including an evening “Twilight” route operate in the metro/greater Holland and Zeeland area.

Fares

Standard Fare

Adults (18-64): $1.15

Reduced Fare

Reduced Fare: $0.50

Available for:

  • Seniors (65+)
  • Persons with Disabilities (ADA Cardholders)
  • Medicare Cardholders
  • Youth (5-17)

Accessibility & Eligibility

Paratransit/Reduced Fare Eligibility

MAX provides complementary paratransit for individuals who are unable to use the fixed route system due to a disability or mobility issue. See MAX Reserve-A-MAX for more information.

MAX fixed route buses are lift equipped for wheelchair or other mobility equipment users.

To qualify for ADA priority service and reduced fares, passengers must undergo a free application process provided by MAX to determine eligibility. To request an application, contact MAX Customer Service at (616)355-1010. The application is not available for download online.


Transit Service Accessibility

Additional Notes

According to the MAX website:

Reserve-A-MAX (DR) and Fixed Route service is currently servicing limited trips (medical, employment, grocery/supplies). MAX’s service hours are adjusted to Monday-Friday, 6:00am-7:00pm with advanced requested evening service only, and Reserve-A-MAX service only on Saturday from  10:00am-7:00pm (dialysis trips and employment trips only).

Passengers going to the grocery store for essential shopping purposes will be limited to two (2) trips per week to allow all passengers the opportunity to use the services. MAX is also temporarily allowing passengers four (4) bags for grocery trips instead of the usual two (2) allotted bags.
