Method/Rules for Scheduling a Ride

CATA Connector is a regularly scheduled (operates on a set schedule) service. You do not need to book rides in advance. However, if you request a pick-up or stop outside the regular stop locations (a deviation), you must schedule them in advance.

  • Trips deviating from the route must be arranged at least 30 minutes in advance of the desired trip.
  • Trips are scheduled in the order requests are received and are limited to the availability of space on the bus.
  • Advance reservations will be limited to no more than seven days prior to any desired trip date(s).

Accessibility & Eligibility

Paratransit/Reduced Fare Eligibility

CATA Connector is a curb-to-curb, flexible route service. This means, it runs on a set schedule and has fixed stops, but you may request stops along the way up to a set distance from the route. If you cannot get to the CATA Connector fixed stop locations due to a disability or mobility impairment, please see CATA Spec-Tran paratransit service. All CATA Connector buses or vans are lift/ramp equipped and accessible for wheelchair users and other mobility equipment users.

To qualify for reduced fare eligibility, you must have a Medicare Card, a CATA Student ID available through local middle and high schools, or apply for one of the following

CATAClub Annual Card –  issued to persons with a temporary disability. They are valid for a calendar year. Click here for the application.

CATAClub Lifetime Card – issued to persons with a permanent disability or persons 62+ years. They are valid for up to ten years depending on when you apply.

All CATA Connector buses or vans are lift/ramp equipped and accessible for wheelchair users and other mobility equipment users.

Additional Notes

CATA lists all demand response or flexible route services under “Curb-to-Curb & Paratransit” on their website. It is important to understand that although CATA Connector will pick people up at their homes, it is a flexible route service, not paratransit or demand response. It serves the general public, not just individuals with disabilities. It stops at fixed locations and will  take people to set destinations to connect with other CATA transit services – Meijer in Mason, or Meridian Mall in Okemos.

Spec-Tran is CATA’s paratransit service. You must have a disability and not be able to use CATA’s fixed route services to use Spec-Tran.
